frequencies & call signs & static
10 minutes of excitment
11 hrs 50 min of boredom
Power Bar’s & croissants
1.5 liter water bottle
biting my nails
prounouncing Iraqi names
constant sound of fighter jet engines
racing wheel chairs down the hallway
the secret room
toilets that can’t handle toilet paper
dreams that are real and reality that is a dream
air in a can
insomnia
make another pot of coffee
grow a vacation!
re-enlistment harrassment
pimples on faces
countdown to: end of week…end of month…vacation…home.
remembering the past
forgiving the past
armor on vehicles…bodies…buildings
incoming! incoming! incoming!
sent back to a home that isn’t really home anymore
