Tidbits: Journal 9/9/06
IÂ just shipped all of the recording equipment I’ve been using in Iraq back home today. Even though I still have my acoustic and electric guitar, I don’t expect to post any news tracks for another month or so. I never did have a chance to finish a crap load of tunes I had started throughout the year… but at least I got a head start on a few of them. I’m going to hand carry my electric home and leave the acoustic behind for the new unit.
I’ve been sick with some nasty cold/flu thing for the last two days. My roomie (bless her heart) has offered to take my shift for the night to give me more recovery time. This morning I nearly passed out in the bathroom and sat next to the toilet sweating bullets as my body tried to heave out the nothing that was in my stomach. After that, I was more than gracious for her to take my shift.
Someone told me that they suspect many of us are getting sick because of the swarms of new people getting in country. It’s that time of the year when relacements come in fresh from the states. There is speculation that these new kids are bringing along all the new strains of cold/flu which storm across the U.S. every year. And since we’ve been way out here on a totally different continent, we haven’t been exposed to them yet. Then again, it may just be an excuse to point fingers. Either way, I feel like crap.
I need someone to remind me to write about the zippo. I keep forgetting and I know I won’t remember on my own. Send me an e-mail or something so I’ll remember to blog about it. (And I know I could just e-mail myself, but what fun is that?)
In the female bathroom people have been writing on the mirror things that they miss from Chicago. Lots of restaurants… lots of bars… I wrote Nookie’s Tree only because I’m lame and can’t think of any other restaurants. (Besides Chicago Pizza Company. mmmm…) Plus, it’s in boystown and that’s the only part of the city I’m familiar with. I still have to mapquest every address in the city I want to go to. I’m so lame like that. They should have a course that teaches people the different streets and block numbers. I’d totally sign up for it. Maybe I can talk Djulie into teaching me the tricks to remember everything. (Cause I know she’s like a fucking goddess at getting around the city by memory.) Do you charge by the hour, Djulie?
So, I’m on my way now to hoard whatever items I can find at the chow hall that has vitamin C in it. Toodles!
