Roll on Chicago Bears!
I saw an advertisement the other day that said something to the effect of “Baseball will divide the city, but the Bears will unite it”. How true. How true. They should have lost today but managed to squeek through in overtime with a field goal. Sooooo…. playoffs here we come! First round bye and home field advantage. I’m so excited for the playoffs I just don’t know what to do with myself. I’m concocting bigger plans in my head for the playoffs rather than New Year.
Even though the Chicago White Sox won the World Series last year, I was far far away in Iraq at the time to enjoy it. The most we could do out in the desert was hang a few team memorabilia in our patient waiting room. As a Chicago National Guard unit it was exciting but I think we still felt like outsiders to the happy rioting that was occuring in Chicago at the time.Â
It’s just amazing how the Chicagoland area shuts down during a Bears game. B mentioned how the Christmas traffic was obviously lessoned during the game today. Another young dude I talked to said that everyone was gathering around t.v.’s in the mall to watch the play-by-play. Time just stops when the Bears are kicking ass. And I’m finally here to appreciate it!!
So, roll on Bears. You’ve had a long time coming for this moment. We’re all behind you!Â
Now don’t eff it up.
