Don’t hate me cause I’m thrifty

If you haven’t noticed I’d like to point out that I’ve decided to “monetize” my website. Really all this means is that I’ve authorized the display of advertisements that relate to the content I post here. Before you start screaming “SELL OUT!” let me explain:

In order for me to run this site and for you to view it, I have to store all the information on a server. Because I don’t want a companies tag on my web URL (like myspace or livejournal or blogger) I have to pay a private company who stores all of my website info on their server and who agrees not to get involved in my own personal individuality. (Naming my site, molding it to my liking, building or destroying it as I see fit, etc.) It’s not incredibly expensive, but it isn’t cheap either.

By posting semi-relevant ads at no cost to me (or you, by the way) I’m making myself tiny bits of revenue each day. Literally, pennies. But of course, pennies add up and in a year they’ll add up to the cost of hosting this website.

In the long run I’ll get to keep running the site (I win), you’ll get to keep reading my brain dumps (you win), and the advertisers? Well… they always win.

P.S. Did I mention that it helps if you actually click on an advert? If you do that then I won’t have to beg you for money when the web bill comes in. Also, I tried to make them as unobtrusive as possible. Please don’t start throwing rotten tomatoes at me.
