Sirius and XM satellite radio are merging!! Two companies that have revolutionized the way we listen to music are joining forces.
I’ve had Sirius for several years now and will profess that it’s been a steady love story between us. Oh, the choices! Oh, the constant stream of music that I get to choose and never once have to hear a Viagra commercial! I love you I love you! Kisses, smootches, big bear hugs!
Sirius has always been the rival of XM. And I’ve always been allegiant to Sirius. (stroking my Sirius statue as I type this.) So, it’ll be weird to see Sirius’ arch nemesis join with them and (hopefully) rule the radio world.
BTW, isn’t there some sort of monopoly law? With the two companies merging, there won’t be any satellite radio competition, right? Bah.
I need a law geek who can explain this to me.

I was always under the impression that they couldn’t merge because of the monopoly thing. But eh, whatever, as long as I still get all my regular channels that Sirius gives me.
You too!
Have you managed to get a signal in Iraq? I couldn’t seem to get it to work for me.

Good Luck.
Have you heard the HD Radio? I think that might be the new compition, except HD radio is free after you buy the reciever.
i love monopoly.
I never thought I would find someone as enamoured as I with their Sirius. Eighties and nineties and headbangin’ metal. Who could ask for more?
I hope the merge won’t mean higher fees and I can keep my favourite channels…we can only hope.
Oh yay! So many people just like me who adore their Sirius radios! According to the email, the companies will continue to work independently throughout the remainder of the year. But it doesn’t mention anything about any price adjustments. hmmmm…. I’m practically paying my $12/mo for just 1 station that I listen to religiously so… meh. Hopefully the damage won’t be too great.
Mines in Betty (my jeep, yes, I know, I named my jeep) so no receiver here in Iraq…I know that it wont work here though, as the satellite footprint only resides over CONUS…I had the same problem when I lived in Hawaii…no Sirius
You are spot on. The FTC and or SEC will have to approve the merger before it is finalized. So maybe your love affair with Sirius won’t turn into a torrid 3 way (kidding:)
Thanks bro and Chris! Can I pencil you guys in as my “law geeks”?
I was wondering that EXACT same thing too! I’m glad someone was able to answer it for you. And for me.
Thank you Darling for your service to our nation. If I can ever be of any help please let me know.
