Layed up in bed
What’s been on the menu these last few weeks:
Had a lovely time with an Israeli friend, Sharon, tromping around Chicago and surviving the cold together. His conversations are stellar and it reminded me how much I long for more adventure.
Work has quickly turned from a learning experience to a boring experience.
Winter has officially distorted my normal jovial (snort!) personality into that of a grumpy and cold old woman.
I’m finally able to get my wisdom teeth removed. In exactly one week I’ll be popping valium Vicodin and drooling on myself. I’m hoping I’ll get through the next few days without too much of a fuss. Already every hour brings a new and interesting feeling of pain and irritation. For example, from 6pm-7pm it felt like little mice knawing on my jaw sockets. From 7pm-8pm the pain was akin to plastic nails being screwed into the back of my eye balls. And right now, little golf ball tees are pushing into my skull from the back of my ears.
Lastly, I’ve been writing Santa that all I want for Christmas this year are 3 extra hours a day. I’ve been moderately good. Think I’ve got a chance?

Ah yes, when the soul crushing weight of a corporate job defeats one’s natural ability for positive energy. This is why every year and a half I have to get another position. Eventually it will get to me so I try to outrun it by job hopping around the company. Bonus, this action also comes with raises ![]()
So, H and I were at the oral surgeon today for the consultation on her wisdom teeth. She’ll be back on the 4th to get them removed. He looked at H’s name and said “Are you related to Jami? I have a Jami Gibbs whose wisdom teeth I am taking out next week.”
Are you going to Dr. McGough? If you are, he’s good. He pulled mine 22 years ago and J’s 2 years ago.
J felt so good from the anesthesia afterwards that he swore he could break a four minute mile if I let him go to practice that afternoon. Needless to say, the pain hit later, but he refused to take the Vicoden and was determined to get through on Tylenol alone. He could have made things easier for himself.
I think I am glad that we did all of this before it got to be a problem.
Yes, I am going to Dr. McGough!! Wow! Small world. And it makes me feel a lot better knowing that he’s a “family” doctor and is good at what he does. ![]()
