Things are coming together reasonably well. I’ve managed to clean out most of my things and they’re ready to be thrown into my car for a short migration west on Saturday. I’ll be staying at my Dad’s house for the final five days here. Those last days will serve as my “cram session” of preparation before my flight Wednesday night.

On another note, yesterday while at work, I got a call from Capital One fraud protection. Apparently my credit card was compromised and someone was trying to use it to make big purchases. gasp!

After the initial shock, I was completely enraged! Not only because someone was trying to use my credit line illegally but also that it happened one week before my flight to Israel! I’ll admit I was a little panicked. Capital One is my go-to-card because they’re the only credit card that doesn’t charge an international exchange rate fee. Other credit cards will charge up to 3% of the total amount to convert the local currency into American dollars. Needless to say, I needed this card in my wallet.

In the end, I was profusely grateful that Capital One caught the unauthorized charge. I explained to them that I’m going out of the country next week and needed the card immediately. They’re sending a new one via express mail and guaranteed that I’d have it in plenty of time at no additional charge. It’s a strange feeling to actually be happy with a credit card company.

One other exciting thing (cover your eyes, boys); I got my period a week early! It’s hard to explain to anyone other than another female how horrible traveling can be when Aunt Flow is visiting. Even my body is preparing for the journey. I was expecting it the day before my flight. But instead it arrived just in time to finish on the exact day I fly. Talk about strange! Shall I go so far as saying it’s prophetic? A sign? A strange gift by God? No no no. I won’t go so far. But I’ve never been so excited to shop for tampons.

As it stands right now, I have two more days of work remaining and four full days of final preparation before flight day.
