A few days after the Aussie and Roman city excursion, I found myself in the south of the country at the Israeli Air Force museum with Einat and Sharon.
If visiting this museum taught me one thing it’s that I’m a HUGE military enthusiast. I can’t deny it. Movies. Antiques. Museums. If they’re related to the military, I’m all about it. (Go on and say it….. geek.)
The Israeli Air Force museum is quite impressive though. There was a small indoor area that had weather sensitive items like clothing, electronic equipment, and bomb shells on display. Outside were rows of aircraft used by Israel during the last 60 years of their existence. Massive, beautiful, powerful air machines.
Wow.

Do any of these jets look familiar? Even though I arrived with the knowledge that Israel obtains most of its military “supplies” from the United States, I wasn’t quite prepared for how identical ALL of their armaments are to that of the United States. With few exceptions, the Israel Air Force is essentially the American Air Force with a Star of David painted on its wings. No wonder they’ve kicked some serious ass in all of their wars. Only the best for our Israeli cousin.
Some notable birds I saw: The F-16I (customized with Israel electronics), an F-4 Phantom, the C-130, the Apache and Cobra helicopters, and a few old P-51 Mustangs (remember The Black Sheep Squadron?). Not to mention a few of our “favorite” missiles: Hellfire, Patriot, Sidewinders, etc.
Later in the day, Sharon, Einat, and myself found our way to the Negev Desert monument in Be’er Sheva. It’s situated just on the outskirts of the town where the vast desert takes over the land. The monument is best describe with photos. Till next time!
